The Dyson DC23 Motorhead is a bagless canister vacuum. Consumer reviews are very favorable and indicate that the vacuum has very strong suction. It is a unique looking vacuum cleaner and also considered by some to be rather expensive.
Power
Its relatively small size might make one have second thoughts about its power and suction capabilities, however the DC23 seems to excel in these areas. Consumer reviews indicate that the DC23 has more than sufficient suction and it does an excellent cleaning job both on carpets and bare floors. The brushbar on the DC23 is powered by its own motor and this makes it more powerful than an air driven brushbar. There are even consumer comments indicating that it may be too powerful, as it reportedly sometimes pulls threads from the carpet.
Price
If there is anything about the DC23 Motorhead that might put a prospective consumer off, it’s probably the price. The price of the DC23 is usually listed at $599, which some will find high for a vacuum cleaner. The price is also fairly standard across the Internet but a few outlets have it for under $500. This is not an inexpensive machine.
Footprint
The Dyson DC23 Motorhead vacuum is one of the strangest looking residential vacuum cleaners one is apt to come across. The odd appearance no doubt is a result of the engineering that has gone into its many features, including the ability for it to be stowed in a small space. The hose and wand also wrap around the canister to reduce the vacuum footprint for storage reasons. With respect to the odd shape of the vacuum, some confess to liking the look of the rather futuristic DC23.

Features and Tools
The DC23 features an easy empty canister, a feature common to most Dyson vacuums. The contents of the canister can be dumped in the trash bin without ever coming into contact with anything else. The canister capacity is.44 gallons, which some consumers feel is a bit on the small side. It should be mentioned however, that when first using this model on a dirty rug or carpet, the canister fills up fairly quickly. But once a rug or carpet has been cleaned, the canister will not fill nearly as quickly during subsequent cleanings. The hose and wand components, which can be wrapped around the vacuum when not in use, along with the cord, give the Dyson DC23 a reach of just over 30 feet.
The DC23 features a HEPA filtration system that gives protection against allergens, as even the smallest of particulate matter in the air is captured. The filter requires periodic cleaning but never needs replacing. A foot control allows easy switching on and off of the brushbar in order to accommodate different floor types. Accessories include a hard floor tool, crevice tool, stair tool, and furniture tool. Although it is not advertised as an “Animal” vacuum, the Dyson DC23 does a more than adequate job of picking up pet hair according to most consumer reviews of the model. And like all Dyson full size vacuum cleaners the DC23 carries a 5-year warranty.
